The Colony is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around The Colony is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. I went to Liberation Coffee Co. at Grandscape today around 2:20 to order a coffee. I went straight in, looked at the menu, and placed my order. I was the only customer in the shop. While I was waiting for the barista to make my drink, I went to the bathroom. It was completely disgusting and looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in over a week. Feces were on the toilet in addition to urine everywhere. The sink had gross dirt/mold around the faucet. I received my drink and went to the bar area to get a straw. That area was disgusting, too. There were dirty dishes, trash on the counter, and the trash can beside it was super dirty on the lid from continuous lack of cleaning. I ended up not drinking my coffee because if the front of house looks like that, then what does the prep area look like?

Visited this café on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The vibe was relaxed, with soft chatter and people sitting for long conversations. I ordered a cappuccino and a strawberry cheesecake. The cappuccino had good texture and wasn’t too bitter. The cheesecake looked great and tasted decent, though slightly heavier than I prefer. Service was steady, but not particularly fast, which was fine given the crowd. I noticed a couple next to me had an order issue, and the staff handled it calmly by replacing it without discussion. It gave a good impression of how they deal with mistakes.

I really wanted to like this place, but after three separate tries, I’m convinced the only mistake here was me coming back again 😅 I’m not a picky coffee person at all. I’ll happily drink just about anything. But this? I ordered a simple vanilla latte and couldn’t even finish it… I ended up pouring it out. That’s never a good sign. The tough part is that everything else is actually great. The location is awesome, the vibe has potential, and the people working there were genuinely kind. No complaints there at all. But the coffee itself… it’s just not drinkable right now. I hate to say it, but places like White Rhino, The Booke Shop, and The Perc are all on a completely different level when it comes to coffee quality. I hope they figure it out, because it could be a really great spot—but as it stands, I can’t recommend the coffee.

Went in for a coffee but ended up ordering the Blueberry Acai Energy Blend instead. Highly recommend! There are a lot of treats - cookies, muffins, croissants, bagels, cinnamon rolls. Self-serve ice water station. Indoor and outdoor seating. Weather permitting it's a great place to sit outside. Some outdoor seating is covered/shaded. There are plenty of tables with umbrellas. It's located at the Grandscape entertainment district so it's not the most convenient due to the parking situation. I wouldn't go to this location if I didn't either 1) have time to sit leisurely outdoors or 2) other plans at Grandscape (putt putt, go-karts, surf rider, etc.) The fountains outside are really neat when operating but were drained on this visit.

Great coffee shop located in Grand Scape. For very happy coffee drinkers this morning. Pour over was delicious! Double espresso perfect, not bitter. The staff was very friendly. Some food options, pastries and oatmeal.
